DAEX is a digital art exchange that works directly with prominent artists to obtain exclusive digital works of art that are unitized into a limited run.  These art assets are originated in “Initial Art Offerings” through the DAEX platform and a recorded into the Ethereum blockchain, preserving value and ownership.  DAEX enables users to purchase, hold, track and sell these blockchain assets.

DAEX approached ICP with a bold vision to create an exchange capable of transacting in blockchain-based art assets.  DAEX had a clear vision of what it wanted to do and how to execute on it, but had no creative assets, and no documentation.  ICP led in the product ideation, design and logo creation.  Our team of world class designers, the same team that consults for Red Bull, Beats by Dre and Nike, executed on a graphic representation of the founders idea.

DAEX made it clear that it’s vision was to create a trading platform similar to the best cryptocurrency exchanges.  We designed an “order book” similar to other exchanges, but instead of market depth charts, we used a large portion of the page to showcase the featured work, and the artist.  Since each work is of a limited volume, we wanted to demonstrate that each digital piece was owned by a unique individual.  The result was a trading UI, that didn’t feel like an e-commerce site or cryptocurrency exchange – instead having a completely original look of its own.

DAEX is first and foremost about artists.  Our goal was to capture each artists unique designs and body of work.  The approach was to utilize a large portion of the “screen real estate” to highlight each artists work, including a prominent banner at the top of the profile page, and a side scrolling gallery to showcase their featured work.  The result was a page that is image-centric, engaging site visitors with a rich experience, that was easy to navigate through and quick to gain context.
